Résumé : |
This is the remarkable personal narrative of one man inspired by faith, who accomplished miracle after miracle of human reclamation. The age-old conflict of good and evil is dramatized here in the real-life story of a country preacher named David Wilkerson who, in 1958, was moved to try to help the seven boys indicted in New York City for the murder of Michael Farmer, a crippled teen-ager. They are in prison now and beyond Reverend Wilkerson’s help, but his efforts have burgeoned into the Teen Challenge movement, which has saved other boys and girls from crime and addiction.
Through the acceptance of the living Spirit of Christ, hardened delinquents and confirmed narcotics addicts have found a miraculous new way of life in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Social workers and law enforcement officials are eloquent in their recognition of the miracles of conversion this humble preacher has wrought. Many prominent businessmen and other leaders, including W Clement Stone, Chicago philanthropist and president of the Combined Insurance Company of America, and Walter Hoving, chairman of Tiffany’s, actively support the Teen Challenge movement. Three thriving Teen Challenge Centers in Brooklyn, Chicago and Los Angeles and a rehabilitation farm in Pennsylvania are solid evidence of the fact that the remarkable work that David Wilkerson began in response to a spiritual call only a few short years ago is already well under way, with newer and greater achievements of human reclamation and inspiration yet to come. |
