Résumé : |
Chapters 9-11 of Paul's Epistle to the Romans have always been a puzzle. To some they seem an interruption in his argument: they can apparently be ignored, and the reader can move from the end of chapter 8 to the beginning of chapter 12 without any noticeable break.
In addition to this, the chapters deal with the profound problem of election, emphasizing the setting aside of Israel, the earthly people of God, in spite of the promises made to them, and the introduction of a different plan. No wonder Paul calls all this "a mystery"! Yet these chapters contain vitally important teaching, and it would be difficult to find anyone as competent to expound them as Mr. Ellison. |
