Résumé : |
A comprehensive, up-to-date survey of Christian education, this symposium offers a wealth of essential information to schools, churches, and other organizations, as well as individuals. It surveys the history and philosophy of Christian education, the preparation of the teacher, and the function of various Christian educational agencies. Also discussed are students of all ages.
An Introduction to Evangelical Christian Education, covering every major aspect of this important field, is the work of specialists in their respective areas. Among the prominent evangelical scholars are Carl F. H. Henry, Frank E. Gaebeleih, Cornelius Jaars-ma, Lois LeBar, Mary LeBar, Henrietta C. Mears and S. A. Witmer. This multiple authorship enables the reader to survey a wide yet specialized field, and to observe the differences of opinion of knowledgeable people, all of whom are deeply committed to Christ. An Introduction to Evangelical Christian Education is not a complete treatment of the whole field or any part of it but is, as the title indicates, an introduction. Each author includes a bibliography for further detailed study. The extensive index indicates the scholarly work involved. The organization and approach to teaching in Sunday Schools and other related agencies such as weekday youth clubs, camps, and Bible institutes are carefully discussed, as are the roles of the Christian education director, the board, and the pastor. An Introduction to Evangelical Christian Education is an excellent book with tremendous potential. |
