Résumé : |
A comprehensive survey of the church’s ministry to adolescents written by twenty-nine outstanding leaders in the field of Christian education. Dr. Frank E. Gaebelein writes in the Foreword, “If the faith is to be effectively communicated to the younger generation, then the churches, parents, Christian schools and various independent Christian agencies must improve and amplify their educational programs. In order for this to be done by evangelicals, they must have help in understanding and coping with the great opportunities before them. Such help is provided in Youth and the Church."
This up-to-date evaluation of the effectiveness of the church’s out-reach to youth makes a practical contribution to the concept of Christian youth leadership. Included is an analysis of the church’s youth program in Bible school, training groups, worship, recreation, service activities and camping, plus an analysis of extrachurch movements. The writers emphasize the growing seriousness of the problems young people face in meeting and responding to the calls for allegiance from the many competitors of wholehearted commitment to Christ. Recognizing the great potential in youth and their importance in the future, they point out that the church faces its greatest challenge in meeting the needs of the space-age generation. |
