Here Jay Adams attempts to do for the first time what he believes ought to be done in all areas of Christian activity—he shows how to transform doctrine into life and ministry. Interrelating the two, he traverses the entire corpus of Christian doctrine, demonstrating in the field of counseling that doctrine need not be dead, dry or dusty.
Dr. Adams probes areas of doctrine characteristically neglected by theologians, such as prayer, habit, forgiveness after forgiveness, and guidance. He does so while covering the fields of Scripture, theology proper, biblical anthropology, salvation, the church and eschatology. The section on anthropology—the doctrine of man—is particularly pertinent to many problems raised in counseling circles today. While systematic in approach, the book is not just another systematic theology.
