Résumé : |
Before anyone stands up to preach what he claims to be “good news”, he ought to take a long look at the pressures under which people are living. This is what John Poulton sets out to do. In extremely readable fashion he analyses the pressures that living in our modern industrialised society can bring.
He writes about affluence, permissiveness, pop, the sense of alienation from controlling our own affairs, the environmental crisis and the all embracing influence of mass media. And all the time John Poulton is asking how the Christian gospel, to which he is so committed, really is good news to our generation's pressurised people. He sketches out suggestions and ways forward but he is more anxious to stimulate thoughtful ~ Christians into activity themselves. Each chapter ends with questions for group discussion and suggestions for further reading. |
