Résumé : |
What is the social responsibility of Christians? How does it relate to evangelism? Is it more or less important?
These were crucial questions at the Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization (1974) and became the subject of an important special session. The resulting article in the Lausanne Covenant marks an important step in evangelical social ethics and thus deserves careful examination. Klaus Bockmuehl summarizes the major Lausanne papers on ethics, analyzes the formation and structure of the text and then carefully examines each of the nine action verbs used by the Covenant to delineate our social obligation. Then he points us forward to further theological work and practical action. |
