Résumé : |
The divorce between science and religion is one of the most significant aspects of our modern philosophical scene.
That this should be allowed to happen is the fault of church leaders who have themselves largely rejected the concept of objective revelation and a belief in the authority of the Bible in favour of pragmatism. Others, while clinging to biblical authority, have erred by withdrawing from the real world of practical experience into subjectivism. Prof. Andrews, a committed Christian and a scientist, seeks to correct some of these mistakes. This book is a collection of some of his lectures and writings, each chapter being complete in itself. They deal with principles and options, but also with more detailed arguments on the nature of science and creation and the interpretation of miracles and providence in an age of science. Theistic evolution is considered and rejected as being a means of reconciling biblical teaching with a scientific view of origins. Positive alternatives are given, A final chapter deals with the age of the earth. |
