Résumé : |
In the perennial controversy between scientists and theologians ever since Darwin promulgated his theory of natural selection to explain the origin of species, there has never been a true communication of minds between the scholars involved in the debate. The medieval obscurant attitudes of some prominent theologians during the Copernican revolution disillusioned many scientists. Naturalistic scientists, on the other hand, give a wholly unsatisfactory view of the origin of man and have thereby caused an overreaction on the part of evangelicals, including an unfortunate ignoring of the scientific merits of the well-documented theory of natural selection.
"Evolution: Nature and Scripture in Conflict?" examines the historical development, the philosophical and biblical implications, and the scientific bases of the theory of evolution. It gives a critical evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of the theory. This book also evaluates all forms of the contemporary dialogue among evangelical scholars on the issues of creation and evolution and should help the reader make an intelligent decision in the current debate on the teaching of creation and evolution in the public school. |
