Résumé : |
Old and New Testaments speak of men receiving gifts from God. But what is meant by ‘gifts’ — and should we use the inverted commas?
The purpose of this book is to look afresh at the scriptural teaching about gifts. In the light of this teaching, why have many churches failed to recognise God’s provision for effective ministry — and why do other churches seem to associate spiritual gifts with chorus singing and the raising of one or both arms? Dr Michael Griffiths, Principal of London Bible College and Consulting Director of Overseas Missionary Fellowship, argues that ‘these wretched little quotation marks have become divisive and sectarian. Can we not search the Scriptures together in such a way that we come closer to agreement about what the Lord has given us for the perfecting and upbuilding of the church?’ We should, he urges, seek the Lord’s sewing grace. |
