Résumé : | There have been many books devoted to individual aspects of the work of Christ, and in particular to His death upon the cross. One of the distinctive features of this book is that it sums up the teaching of the New Testament on the work of Christ as a whole, so that His death is seen in the context of His earthly life. His resurrection and exaltation, and His future coming. Dr Marshall's method is to consider the teaching of Jesus and then to survey the New Testament writers in turn, so that the reader may be able to trace something of the development of New Testament theology. At the same time, the essential unity of the New Testament is demonstrated, as each writer is seen to bear his own characteristic witness to the revelation of salvation in Jesus Christ. A final chapter poses the question whether modem theology and evangelism can still use the language of the New Testament in describing the work of Christ. |
