What is Christianity? If we are to accept the basic answer given by Professor Hallesby, then some who are claiming that they arc Christians are really quite mistaken. They are only religious. The author’s aim is to differentiate between what he calls ‘self-directed zeal’ and the true obedience of faith, between religiosity of various kinds and genuine Christian belief and practice. This is a courageous and challenging book.
Professor Hallesby’s gifts as a writer are well known. His skill in combining simplicity of style with depth of thought makes his books attractive to young Christian and experienced Bible student alike. |
