A ROYAL COMMANDMENT from Him ! Some of His Royal Commandments are made so 'plain upon tables,, that he may run that readeth' Some are carved between the lines of the tablets of sacred history, and flash out only as the candle of the Lord falls upon them. Some are engraved upon the gems of promise ; and as we look, closely into the fair colours of each jewel that the hand of faith receives, we find that it is enriched by an unerasable line of precept. But all are royal, for all arc ’from Him,' our King. And He has said, 'If ye love Me, keep My commandments'.
The aim of this little book is to lead His servants, morning by morning, not only to keep, but to seek, recognise, and delight in His Royal Commandments, and it is sent forth with the prayer that every reader may be taught by His good Spirit more of the happy ‘obedience of faith.’ It is hoped that the little companion volume, Royal Bounty, or Evening Thoughts for the King’s Guests, may be a tiny ‘cup of cold water ’ to some of His tired children when their day’s work, or day’s waiting, is over. Both are offered, very gratefully and lovingly, to the readers of My King who have spread those simple ‘ Daily Thoughts ’ so far beyond the writer’s expectation, with the earnest request that they will join in thanksgiving for the blessing which has been given, and in prayer that even greater blessing may be sent with these little books, for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake. - F.
