Résumé : |
The discipline of sociology is playing an increasingly important role in New Testament studies. Inevitably, the relationship is accompanied by a degree of mistrust and misunderstanding.
Derek Tidball, who is Director of Studies at London Bible College, holds degrees in Sociology and Theology. In this book he provides a guide to the major areas of contemporary debate and points out the significant features of the discussion so far. It is an introduction to what sociologists and sociologically orientated theologians have recently been writing about the New Testament and although it does not attempt to be an original contribution to the field of study, the survey includes critical comment and poses some questions. It will be valued, not only by students, but by the general reader seeking a fresh viewpoint on the New Testament. |
