If the Bible account of his activities is accurate he should have aroused sufficient interest to gain considerable comment in other historical records of the time. F. F. Bruce has studied these records and sets out the information drawn from a variety of sources and writings of the New Testament period including Jewish, pagan, apocryphal, Islamic, and also the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Gospel of Thomas, the Koran and the evidence of archaeology. |
