Résumé : |
The Biblical Theology approach to the Scriptures is unique. It is not systematic theology, exegesis, nor merely a different arranging of the same material. Rather it is a combination of these—partly historical, partly exegetical, partly critical, and partly theological. Biblical Theology is a totally distinctive method of Bible Study.
Concerned with the reason why something was written as well as with its content, Biblical Theology systematizes all material revealed on a certain subject either during a given time period or through an individual author. The various sectional divisions—The Theology of Acts . . . James . . . Paul . . . Hebrews . . . Peter and Jude . , . and John— illustrate this unique method. This logical approach allows the reader to view doctrine in its historical context, to emphasize theological substructure, and to maintain a balance of the doctrine of inspiration. Biblical Theology has four major distinguishing characteristics: it is systematic, historical, progressive and biblical. Its relation to apologetics, biblical introduction, exegesis, history of doctrine, and systematic theology is also considered. Biblical Theology of the New Testament is designed to assist the reader in having a new appreciation of the authors, circumstances and writings of the New Testament. Written to fill a need, this volume affords a valuable guide for students and teachers alike. This fresh approach to theology is a rewarding study, and one which is sure to be an aid to all Christians. |
