Résumé : |
‘The aim of this work is to make some contribution towards understanding the influence of existentialist philosophy upon contemporary thought?
In An Existentialist Theology Dr Macquarrie stresses the affinity between existentialism and biblical thought. To illustrate his argument he analyses in detail the wbrk of two contemporary giants, the philosopher Martin Heidegger and Rudolf Bultmann, the great theologian. He demonstrates how Bultmann, consciously and in some cases unconsciously, draws on the precepts provided by Heidegger’s existential thinking. Thus the author not only defines the relationship between religion and philosophy in a particular Case, but points to the wider conclusion that theology - whatever its source -is always tied to philosophical mores. |
