Résumé : |
For all—ordained, student or lay— who want to keep abreast of contemporary theology here is a concise survey of what seem to be the most important trends in international New Testament scholarship. The challenge of Rudolf Bultmann’s ‘demythologizing’ programme of the 1940s leads in the 1960s into a new quest of the historical Jesus. This time it is a quest which reckons with the real nature of the issue and the evidence. Bultmann and others are also seen as breaking new ground in Pauline studies.
Professor Fuller then assesses the most important recent commentators on the synoptic gospels, the Lucan writings and the Johannine problem. The last chapter, entitled ‘Diagnosis and Prospect’, argues that 'historical research has an important, though subordinate, role to play in relation to faith’. |
