Résumé : |
Chiefly addressing the affluent churches of the West, especially the German churches, the author attempts to identify possible ways whereby Christians from the rich countries may become an ecumenical covenant people of God.
The book begins with an analysis of trends in Old and New Testament scholarship, and goes on to examine the position of Luther and the emphases in neo-Lutheranism. It deals with ecumenical responses and initiatives and focuses on the situation of the German church in the light of the criteria furnished by the Barmen Theological Declaration of 1934. The final chapter comes to grips with the practical implications of our credal confession, and of the churches joining in “a conciliar process of mutual commitment (covenant) to justice, peace and the integrity of creation”. |
