Résumé : |
Books on dialogue are often abstract. They deal more with the theory than the practice of dialogue. Here is a book that describes how dialogue actually takes place, and what results when it happens.
Birmingham in England is a multi-racial and multi-religious city. Among its population are a considerable number of Muslims. A group of Muslims and Christians here has carried on a sustained dialogue for several years. Its members have not changed their faiths, but they have grown hi community and understanding. The first part of the book presents a diary of their meetings and contacts. In the second part are reflections, on the basis of this experience of dialogue, on issues of faith, prayer and theology, and on the sensitivities involved as people meet across cultural boundaries. The Rev. Andrew Wingate is principal of the West Midlands Ministerial Training Course based at the Queen’s College, Birmingham. He was for a few years on the staff of the Tamil-nadu Theological Seminary in Madurai, India. Both in Madurai and in Birmingham he has been actively involved in interfaith meetings. |
