Résumé : |
This great work is a scholarly and comprehensive treatment of the subject. The author has left no avenue unexamined which might shed light on his problem.
This reprint edition consists of the two original volumes bound into one convenient book. Volume I is devoted to the study of The History of Doctrine in the Ancient Church, while Volume II deals with The History of Doctrine in the Middle and Early Modern Ages. The author gained prominence and renown as a professor of Church History and Systematic Theology in the Universities of Dorpat, Erlangen and Berlin. Among his many scholarly works his Lehrbuch der Dogmengeschichte soon became recognized as a definitive work in its field. Its English translation, here presented, has greatly increased its sphere of usefulness. The demand for a reprint of this valuable work for textbook use has been strong and persistent. This book is likewise an invaluable reference work for ministers, seminary professors and students, professors of religion in Bible schools and colleges, and for all who consult standard reference sources in libraries. |
