Résumé : |
Karl Barth describes this Shorter Commentary on Romans as ‘a smaller younger brother of the Epistle to the Romans of igi8 and 1921’. The Commentary originated in the form of a course of extra-mural lectures delivered in Basle during the winter of 1940-41. T gave some of them’, writes Dr Barth, ‘in a rather weather-beaten uniform of the Auxiliary Armed Forces’—a reminder indeed of the times, and yet T was determined to continue as if nothing had happened.’
Dr Barth’s intention is to let Paul speak for himself. He offers this commentary in the faith that there is yet new light to break from the Epistle to the Romans as from the Bible as a whole. |
