Résumé : |
“If our day does not start with the Lord, there can be no blessing. If it does start with Him, there can be nothing but blessing. His ways, like those of His wisdom, are ways of pleasantness, and all His paths are peace.”
This is the note sounded by Dr. Barnhouse at the outset of this series of expositions. Verse by verse, and phrase by phrase he progresses through the book of Genesis, lifting from it rich and pithy treasures of devotional truth. Timely and timeless, these devotional meditations will bless and enrich the reader. Among the devotional thoughts expressed are: “The Hebrew contains a beautiful thought which might be translated, ‘Abel brought the firstlings, and the fattest ones too.’ He did not pick a scrawny, ill-favored beast, but brought first-born lambs and the finest. Nothing is too good for God, and He has a way of giving back double for anything we give to Him. To give up the undesirable, the unwanted, or the superfluous is not surrender. There must be true sacrifice.” “The man who is truly separated under God has the real power to help in the time of need. Though the world will not admit it, the presence of groups of surrendered, praying Christians is of more importance to our land than the possession of the atomic bomb. The enemy may have bombs, but he cannot duplicate righteous men, whose effectual, fervent prayers avail much.” |
