Résumé : | This book is a personal account of the charismatic movement by a priest of the Church of England. In it the author describes how he was 'baptized with the Holy Spirit’ at about the time that the new pentecostalism was beginning to touch Christians in this country. Then he goes on to explain how the movement affected his beliefs and ministry as the vicar of a Romford parish and as the chaplain of a Christian community. Drawing on a varied experience of charismatic ways of praying, worshiping and ministering, he illustrates how the movement is leading Christians to realize more fully their fellowship in the Holy Spirit and gathering them together in groups and communities to build up the Body of Christ. For many it is a fresh understanding of what Jesus Christ meant when he told his disciples, ‘You shall see. greater things than these’ (John 1 :50). In the final chapter the author discusses the lessons to be learned from pentecostalism and how they can be applied to the worship and life-style of the institutional Churches today. |
