In this book we will one-up Mr. Dickens with A Tale of Three Cities, a message centered around die three cities in the Book of Jonah—Ninevah, Tarshish, and Joppa. Rather than providing a historical account of Jonah’s travels to these cities or a geographical study, we will view these places as personal illustrations of spiritual life.
Nineveh represents God’s will for our lives. Tarshish represents our human attitude of “I’ll do it my way.” And Joppa is the place of spiritual decision. This book focuses on our power struggles with God. What are the challenges to our unconditional obedience to the Lord? Where are we living spiritually right now—in a Tarshish of escape or in a Nineveh of obedience? An important, lifechanging message awaits believers who apply this three-city allegory to their Christian lives. The right choices enable us to live the victory life in “downtown Nineveh,” right in the center of His will. |
