Théologie de M. M. Thomas (Madathilparampil Mammen Thomas, 1916—1996).
What is the response of Christian faith to the revolutionary changes sweeping the Third World? How is Christian communication made relevant to the context of religious and ideological pluralism? Questions such as these are dealt with in this full-length study of the theology of M. M. Thomas, “the true guru of modem Indian Theology”. His voluminous writings, including his Malayalam works that remain inaccessible to English readers, are explored for the first time. This investigation has brought out the communicative impact of his bridge-building theology, developed at the intersection between faith and ideology. The hallmark of this theology is identified as his radical christocentricity which is the ground of his theological anthropology and its missiological consequences. Here is a valuable addition to the current discussion on liberation themes from an Indian perspective. |
