Résumé : | Thal Heidegger is the most significant contemporary European philosopher cannot be doubted. He has yet to be completely understood and his place in the framework of European thought has still to be evaluated. His concern with the Being of being is a reflection of his deep longing to understand this being we call man and that understanding demands rejection of such definition as rational, economic, or pragmatic. That Heidegger’s approach is religious and poetical, that Heraclitus, Böhme, Hölderlin and Rilke are his inspiration, does not free us from the responsibility to dispose ourselves to his thinking, comprehend his dimensions and grasp his questioning. Heidegger struggles with the question which each man must struggle with—what is the meaning of Dasein or the human reality? The question, and its possible answer, is the responsibility of all philosophy. Heidegger has posed the question and he has pointed a path where an awareness of Being is to be found. They are new dimensions for us and in these dimensions the limitations of our traditions are loosened and we are led to deeper questioning. This reaffirmation of the repressed and forgotten nature of philosophy is the unique and original achievement of Martin Heidegger. |
