| Résumé : | This grammar of the Hebrew language is one of the most complete such grammars in the English language. Already well-known in its original two-volume 1991 edition, this second edition has been extensively revised. The first edition of 1991, like the present second edition, was based on Paul Joüon's presentation of Hebrew grammar in French in 1923. The English editions bring Joüon’s work up to the present by taking account of developments in the understanding of Biblical Hebrew during the intervening years. For the first time the English version is presented in a single volume, a format which makes the book more attractive and easier to use. As was the case with the earlier edition, students of Old Testament Hebrew and Semitics who have a basic knowledge of Biblical Hebrew will find here much useful insight and information. |
