ISRAEL MY CHOSEN PEOPLE IS an exposition of the unique, destiny of the Jewish people, addressed primarily to the German nation and then to the Christian conscience at large.
It is written under the pressure of a threefold experience : the attempted wholesale extermination of the Jewish race under the Nazi tyranny; the general unawareness of guilt on the part of Germans to-day for the crime committed in their midst ; and the conviction that only a nation-wide, repentance, beginning with Christians, will avert the full severity of the divine wrath. The recent return of the Jews to the land of their fathers is seen as the beginning of the fulfilment of the. Old Testament prophecies and is a major turning-point in the history of salvation. |
