Résumé : |
Embedded in the Scriptures is a continuous line of dated events, which begins with the creation of Adam and reaches across forty centuries of time to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Anstey gives us, in tabulated form, the chronological data constituting that unique line.
By use of diagrams, charts, tables and other forms of graphic representation, this intricate and difficult subject is not only Scriptural and scholarly, but at the same time presented in an easy to understand manner. Anstey traces the dated events of the Old Testament step by step. Each step is substantiated and proved. Every chasm is bridged over. Every difficulty is explained. Every problem is solved. He shows how every chronological statement in the Old Testament is consistent with every other chronological statement contained in it, consistent also with every chronological statement contained in the Cuneiform Inscription of Assyria, Babylonia and Persia. The purpose of God in creation and redemption is made known to us in a revelation, in the light of which we are able to interpret the history of the past, to read the meaning of the present and to anticipate the will and purpose of God with regard to the future. This work will give us confidence in the great chronological predictions of Scripture. |
