Résumé : |
Morris brings together in systematic, useful, and meaningful fashion those key biblical insights and instructions related to all the natural sciences. This book is important in studies on science and the Bible, whether formal classroom courses or informal study groups in homes and churches. It will also be enjoyed for personal reading.
Is the Bible, as some would ask, unscientific or prescientific? Is Scripture, after all, only a textbook of religion, with data concerning science and history frequently imprecise, irrelevant, or even erroneous? Morris answers No to such questions and affirms that the actual facts of scientific observation and experience "can be shown to correlate with the biblical view of the world and history in a highly satisfactory way.” Every chapter amplifies the author’s premise that “whenever a Biblical passage deals either with a broad scientific principle or with some particular item of scientific data, it will inevitably be found on careful study to be fully accurate in its scientific insights. Often it will be found even to have anticipated scientific discoveries”. In his foreword, John W. Oller, Jr, professor of linguistics at the University of New Mexico, affirms this book as one “... for those men and women who are willing to examine the Bible and science critically, thoughtfully and intelligently ... It is loaded with empirical evidences showing the veracity of the Bible, and it is probably the best single volume to date on the only sound basis for doing and understanding science. If you want to stoke up the fires of your intellect and savor the delights of a rewarding spiritual journey I suggest a well-lighted place, a comfortable chair, a rested body an alert mind, and this book”. |
