Résumé : |
This sixth volume of THE DOORWAY PAPERS presents six biblical studies on a wide range of scientific and historical topics.
Part I, “Time and Eternity, ’ ’ explores the question of the nature of time on earth and in heaven, and examines Einstein’s theory of relativity in the light of biblical revelation. Part II, “Three Trees and Israel’s History,’’ illustrates how one Spirit has clearly inspired the writing of a unified Scripture by the use of three kinds of trees as symbols to relate the history of God’s chosen people. Part III deals with the perennial question concerning a gap between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. On the basis of his study of the biblical languages, Dr. Custance explains the common misreading of the evidence and offers an interpretation of the Hebrew passage comprehensible to laymen in “Between the Lines: An Analysis of Genesis 1:1, 2.” Part IV, “The Omnipotence of God in the Affairs of Men,’’ is a detailed study of the extent to which Scripture reveals how God rules or overrules in personal and national histories, culminating in a discussion of God’s omnipotence in relation to human responsibility. Part V, “The Confusion of Languages,” explores the question of what was the original language of mankind and why the incident of the Tower of Babel is important to human history. Part VI, “Cain’s Wife and the Penalty of Incest,” is a brief but instructive look at how beautifully consistent Scripture is, both with itself and with latest assured findings of research into the genetics of inbreeding. |
