Résumé : |
All of us hold “world views," fundamental beliefs that contour every aspect of our lives: our thoughts, feelings, work, leisure, values, attitudes, and goals. To build a Christian world view we must be aware both of the surrounding influences upon our thinking and of what the Bible says concerning the issues and challenges that confront us in every area of life.
This volume deals with a wide range of questions concerning the world, social structures, and ethics, such as: • How did the universe come about, and what is its character and, if any, significance? • Is there reason to assume the cosmos is orderly, governed by laws or a higher purpose? • How important is the family to society? • What is the purpose of government, and the proper relationship between church and state? • How can we tell what is economically just and fair, such as in pricing, stewardship of property, and concern for the poor? • What are the aims and assumptions of education, and who should do the educating? • What are the differences between Christian ethics and legalism, situationism, and intuitionism? • How should we respond to ethical issues such as abortion, euthanasia, and homosexuality? |
