In recent years the charismatic movement, with its emphasis on the Holy Spirit, has grown significantly in the Church. Tom Smail contends that the Christian Gospel itself is essentially a 'Father' movement.
At present the Father is forgotten in precisely the same way that the Spirit was forgotten thirty years ago. Tom Smail believes that the first priority for Christian life and renewal is to rediscover the Father and to renew our relationship with him. He first sets out to examine the many facets of Jesus' relationship with his Father, and then clarifies the ways in which our relationship with God the Father can come alive. He clearly spells out what it means to be able to say, through the Holy Spirit, 'Abba, Father'. |
