This is the fourth volume in this series of Word Studies in the Greek New Testament for the English reader. No particular knowledge of Greek is required to grasp the riches Mr. Wuest makes available from the Scriptures. Thal they are filling a real need is shown by the fine sale these volumes are enjoying. The material is unique and we commend the books to all Bible students.
It is impossible to find any one word in the English language to exactly translate many of the Greek terms. There are innumerable shades of meaning in the Greek, which illuminate the text. For this reason it becomes untranslatable in the real sense o^hat word. The author endeavors to give us the shades of meaning, using the many words necessary to convey these, ft is easy to see that this could not be done in an ordinary translation. “The authorized version is an excellent ‘one-word’ translation, and correct. But one misses some of the richness that lies hidden beneath the English word.” It is very important to have this volume in your series because it contains the indexes of the first four volumes. The English reader with no knowledge of Greek can obtain help in this way from the Greek text in approximately 1150 places in these books. The four volumes can be thus used as a reference work. |
