Résumé : |
There is a desperate need for pastoral counselling, but few Christians are equipped for this ministry. Some books on the subject despise the insights of modern psychology; others simply rehash them, overlooking both biblical teaching and the spiritual dimension of human personality.
Evelyn Peterson teaches clinical psychology at Queensborough College, New York, and is a registered psychotherapist. She believes that the Gospel, experienced through Christian fellowship, can meet emotional needs. But it is also important for the counsellor to learn relevant principles of human behaviour. This book provides a systematic treatment of the principles of Christian counselling as it is concerned with human need, Christian faith and psychological knowledge. Study questions and a reading list increase the usefulness of this textbook both to the individual and to groups studying together. "It is not often that we are presented with a book on counselling which is competent professionally, takes full account of the spiritual dimension, is eminently sane, highly practical, and is comprehensible to the ordinary reader. Dr Evelyn Peterson has given us such a book and it will become a 'must' among the Counselling Group in our Church." (Michael Green). |
