Résumé : |
A round table has no sides and no preferred seating. With no first or last and with room for ail, it is a helpful image for a church in which women and men participate in full equality. That image is developed in this collection of essays by women and men from around the world who explore pressing contemporary questions of gender, theology and church leadership. Drawing on their own expériences and reflections, they offer a thought-provoking contribution both to the Ecumenical Decade -Churches in Solidarity with Women and to the process of drawing out the implications for the churches of the Platform for Action adopted by the United Nations’ fourth World Conférence on Women (Beijing 1995). While this book grows out of papers originally prepared for an international consultation on women called by the Lutheran World Fédération, its relevance extends beyond the Lutheran family to ali Christian churches who are concerned to see how the particular gifts of women can make an even greater différence in their life and witness.
