Résumé : |
Healing has long been a neglected and sometimes contentious issue in the Christian Church. In recent years the subject has received considerable attention in the media, but few serious attempts have been made to define the role of Christian healing in the world today and to relate it to the needs of twentieth century society.
Morris Maddocks has written an eloquent defence of healing in an orthodox Christian context, based on his own extensive knowledge and practical experience. He begins with a detailed examination of the life and teaching of Jesus, then outlines the ministry of healing in the Church both in New Testament times and today, underpinning his thesis with Christ's own commission to his Church to proclaim the Kingdom both by preaching and healing. Finally he discusses some of the initiatives for health which could be promoted by medicine and the Church together, and the resources available for the healing of society, ending on a prophetic note: healing for man and glory for God. |
