Résumé : |
Theology of hope, introduced most radically and fundamentally in the writing of Jürgen Moltmann, has challenge theology everywhere to a basic reorientation, to look at a whole range of problems from an entirely new perspective, with what Harvey Cox has called “a refreshing change in direction." THE FUTURE OF HOPE is an answer to that summons, a gathering in dialogue of some of the principal theologians of our time to discuss the far-reaching implications of theology of hope.
Jurgen Moltmann himself opens with a lengthy exploration of "Theology as Eschatology," proposing that history is an element of the future, and that history is for the Christian primarily eschatological. Other contributors include Harvey Cox on the problems of continuity, Frederick Herzog on "Toward the Waiting God," Langdon Gilkey on the kinds of presence of God, John Macquarrie on "Eschatology and Time," and Van A. Harvey on the contemporary concern for secularity. Professor Moltmann has also provided an afterword of reply to the papers and discusses "The Next Step in the Dialogue." THE FUTURE OF HOPE is an important contribution to the ongoing reorientation of theology in modern times, and one necessary for everyone who seeks to keep pace with contemporary theological development. |
