Résumé : |
onditions haven’t changed much in the last nineteen hundred years. Corinth in the first century was the capital of Achaia, a center of culture and learning, politically and commercially important, but also wicked and corrupt.
Even so, the Apostle Paul’s visit resulted in the formation of a promising young church, which he labored to establish solidly on the Word of God. What must have been his discouragement to learn that the church had become torn by factions, strife, and immorality. Guided by the Holy Spirit, Paul penned his first letter to the Corinthians to provide divine wisdom for Christians who through worldly wisdom had become corrupt spiritually, and then morally. No wonder First Corinthians is so vital to us today, plagued by many of the same problems that confronted first century converts. Living wisely is not easy in the midst of a sinful and materialistic age. In this readable and challenging volume Dr. Blair highlights the important lessons which this Epistle can provide for us, as it did for the early Corinthians, "the wisdom from above" so essential for our walk with the Lord. |
