The book of Exodus comes at a crucial point in the history of the Kingdom of God. It is also rich in typology. Thus it lends itself well to the kind of treatment at which Law excelled, showing that 'Christ is all' in the leading events and types.
Henry Law (1797-1844) was one of the most eminent leaders of the evangelical party in the Church of England in the last century. When Spurgeon said of his series 'The Gospel in the Pentateuch' that "Law abounds in gospel", he was making a characteristic pun, but was also speaking the simple truth. Among the twenty four chapters in this book are The Burning Bush, I am that I am, The Passover, The Pillar, Marah, Manna, The Ark of the Covenant, The Tabernacle, The Priest, and The Name. |
