| Résumé : |
Can the genuine Christian have Christ as Savior and not as Lord? Is there more than one way of salvation? Are the commandments in the Old Testament irrelevant for Christians today?
In this volume. Dr. Gerstner examines these and other issues as he presents the most extensive and systematic study of Dispensational theology ever published. Gerstner closely analyzes the history, philosophy, biblical interpretation, and theology of Dispensationalism with special attention to the doctrine of salvation espoused by Dispensationalists. Although Dispensationalism has historically claimed to be both Calvinistic and consistently evangelical, Gerstner shows that "it is today, as yesterday, spurious Calvinism and dubious evangelicalism." Gerstner contends that the current "Lordship Salvation" controversy is a crucial stage in the history of the Church. Just as the integrity of the gospel was at stake during the Reformation, Gerstner demonstrates that the stakes are no less high today. The distinctive tenets of Dispensationalism pose a very real threat to the doctrine of salvation. With this in mind, Gerstner's goal is to spur the thoughtful Christian— especially the Dispensational— to a careful study of biblical truth. |
